Laboratory Evaluation of Blood Coagulation System in FFP

Abstract
|
|
|
The use of fresh-frozen plasma (FFP) is increasing as a source of clotting factors and plasma proteins. Coagulation studies of PT, aPTT, fibrinogen, factor Ⅴ, fator Ⅷ and antithrombin Ⅲ were carried out in FFP preparations made by Chonnam
University
Hospital Blood Bank and Kwangju Red Cross Blood Center. The effects of anticoagulant and it's dilutional ratio on the coagulation assay were also studied.
The results were obtained as follows.
1. There is no significant effects of blood anticoagulant used and freezing condition on the coagulation assay.
2. More diluted 1 ACD: 4 blood showed prolonged PT and aPTT compar5ed to less diluted 1 ACD: 9 blood. So the dilutional effect was observed but less significant in other coagulation assays.
3. Activities of factor Ⅴ and factor Ⅷ in FFP made by Chonnam University Hospital Blood Bank were significantly different from those by Kwanju Red Cross Blood Center. However, it seemed that FFP contained relatively abundant coagulation
factors
to achieve therapeutic goal in spite of dilutional effect and manufacturing difference.
